Director Addresses: Public No More

Since 2 February 2026, Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) registers no longer make directors’ residential addresses publicly available.

Historically, directors of Australian companies have been required to surrender a significant degree of personal privacy. Unless a director could demonstrate to ASIC that they—or their family—were at risk, there was no mechanism to shield this information from public view.

This change has been widely welcomed, albeit with a sense that it is long overdue. For many directors, the comfort is limited: once published, personal information cannot be meaningfully retrieved. Nonetheless, the reform represents an important step forward, ensuring that future dealings with ASIC are conducted with greater regard for personal security. Maybe your next relocation will come with some more privacy!
